Character Rundown:

Each character can have 700 Skills points and 225 Statsistics (str/dex/int) thus each character is a combination of these two things. This results in the possibility of endless character choices and here are some common character templates.

Character Creation:

When creating a character you must choose two things,

  1.  : Do you wish to play this character up and gain naturally or macro up your skills.
  2.  : What sort of character will you make.

Choice 1

If you choose to play your character and gain as you play rather than macroing then I would suggest going with 59 strength, intelligence, and 10 dexterity, for your starting stats. Strength equals the amount of hit-points a character has so the more the better.

If you choose to macro your character up and they require lots of int then I would suggest starting with 11 strength, 59 intelligence, and 10 dexterity. However if they do not require int then I would suggest 45 strength, 25 intelligence, and 10 dexterity. The next thing I would do for this character would be to do it max out their Stats using the method described under the stats link.

Choice 2

This is where you must choose which skills to start with. and since some skills are harder to gain than other. it is wise to choose the following (if you plan on having them in your template)

Skills gain

All skills in UO are gained by using the skills, it is not a leveling system where your earn experience and then distribute it afterward. In order to gain therefore if you are a swordsmen then you yield a sword to kill your foe and you will gain in swords. If you cast spells you gain Magery skill or if you hammer iron ingots into weapons then you gain blacksmithing etc...

However some skills are difficulty based. This means that the higher your level the harder the things you have to do in order to continue to gain. For example stealth requires you to wear heavier items(armor) to gain in the higher levels.

Banking

Every character you create has their own personal bank account, or bank box, anything placed in this box is 100% secure unless removed, and cannot be accessed by anyone but the player character. To access your bank box find the nearest bank and say "bank" within range of a banker NPC. Banks are global, in that your box is accessible in any town, at any bank, an item placed into your bank box in Britain is still accessible at Moonglow bank. Bank boxs have no weight limit, but do have a 125 item limit. Additionally all gold stored on the top level of you bank box does not count against the item limit.
