Townkilling

Whether done for fun, profit or both, townkilling is the art of (you guessed it) killing innocent players in town.

Method 1 no longer works due to changes to explosion potions.

[edit] Materials and Method

There are a number of ways you might kill someone in town. The following method is somewhat expensive but extremely effective. It requires that the target be away from his or her keyboard. (Occasionally, some slow witted individuals will be killed by this despite being at the keyboard.)

What You Need

You will need two characters. The first character is The Bomber. This should be a freshly made character, as it will soon have five or more murder counts. It does not matter what skills you give to The Bomber, but you might want to give it a little extra dexterity. The second character you will need is The Gater. The Gater casts the gate travel spell to transport The Bomber to and from the scene of the attack.

The Bomber

1 Wooden Box of Any Type

13 Greater Explosion Potions

1 Hatchet (or other axe-type weapon)

The Gater

1 Rune to The Bomber's location

1 Set of Gate Travel Reagents

The Target(s)

1 or more players you hope to townkill

What to Do

The Bomber should place twelve of the thirteen Greater Explosion potions in the wooden box. The last potion remains in the top level of The Bomber's bag. The Bomber should also equip the hatchet. Once a suitable target is found, The Gater gates in The Bomber and steps away from the target's location. (Failing to do so can result in The Gater's death.) At this point, you must act quickly. You need to leave in the same gate you come in through. First, The Bomber rushes in and pushes through The Target so as to be standing in the same location as the target. Second, The Bomber destroys the potion-laden wooden box. This results in all twelve potion in the box neatly stacking at The Target's feet. Third, The Bomber double clicks the potion that remains in his or her bag and then targets that very same potion. This results in that potion dropping to The Target's feet--right on top of the stack that is already there. Finally, The Bomber rushes back out the very same gate he or she came in through. If you have done everything correctly, The Target should be dead when the potion explodes.

[edit] Tips

  • You must get out the gate in order for The Target to be killed. If you are in town when the stack of potions explodes and the guards come to kill you, then the damage done by the potions will be significantly reduced. The Target will not suffer more than five or six points of damage.
  • Make sure you move The Gater far away. Otherwise, he or she will die along with The Target.
  • Multiple Targets: Greater Explosion potions do area effect damage. This allows you to kill multiple targets at once. Experiment with the range of effectiveness.
  • Do not place the gate far from The Target or behind any obstacles. Doing so may result in a dead Bomber and failed attempt at a townkill. Place the gate about two tiles away from The Target.
  • You need 13 Greater Explosions total to ensure a successful kill. If you use fewer (even 12), you may not kill The Target.

[edit] METHOD 2

This method requires no prior resources except a weapon and enough skill to actually physically kill your target.

  1. Make sure no NPC's are close enough to you to call guards. [usually get to the last tile and use an "all names" macro to double check your far enough away, for assurance I make sure NO NPC is within "all names" range]
  2. Attack the character that is AFK
  3. Kill the character as long as no NPC comes into screen or a non-NPC calls guards.
